The #murraytweetindex is published by communications consultancy Murray and measures journalists across six parameters to capture their popularity, the quality of engagement and level of activity. A composite index was then created to rank overall positions.

Not surprisingly, given its scale, RTE has the most journalists in the top 100, with the second placed Independent News & Media just pipping Irish Times into third place.

  4. Data used in the compilation of this Data

    The single purpose of this website is to deliver an analysis of Irish Media Journalists as a measure of their possible influence on Twitter.

    The data used in this research was compiled from publicly available information on Twitter profiles using Twitonomy analytics (www.twitonomy.com). Data was collected for the Twitter profiles during the period from 1st January 2015 until 30th September 2015. The analysis was based on the previous 3,200 tweets that the user had made (or if the user had yet to make 3,200 tweets then all their tweets to date). The information was gathered and processed in good faith and based on our assessment of the relevant journalists who should be considered. Any questions, comments or suggestions for improvement or inclusion in next year’s index should be sent to tweetindex@murraygroup.ie

    Any photographic images used for each Twitter Account profiled on the Site are the publicly available profile pictures uploaded to their Twitter Account and fed into the Site via a live feed from the Twitter API and have in no way been altered by the owners of the Site.

  5. Requests for Data Removal

    If you are a journalist featured on this website and for some reason you wish to have your details removed, please confirm to us in writing by emailing us at tweetindex@murraygroup.ie or by regular post to the address of the owners of the site above. We will endeavour to complete any requests from any featured journalist to remove their details within 2 working days of receipt of the request (subject to confirmation of the identity of the person making the request).
